Pineapples (on anything) are one of my favorite ways to decorate.
The Welcome Fruit (as it's known) has a long history in many different cultures.
For more information regarding the rise of the pineapple throughout history, see this informative article: Social History of the Pineapple.
Here are some ways that I decorate with pineapples around the house!
I think it's important to have a welcoming wreath on your front door. What better way than this handmade pineapple wreath from Etsy. Bonus points because it also features antique book pages!!!
I got this wreath on Etsy from a shop called Pickwick Papers. (Love the name!!) I'm pretty sure I got the only pineapple one, but you can buy similar styles here.
I love glassware. It's important to have something fun and unique. I received a set of pineapple wine glasses for Christmas, and it came with this great pitcher! I'm currently using it to store cookie cutters, but come the summer, I plan on making some delicious lemonade!
Mine came from Susquehanna Glass, located in Columbia, PA. (Shop Local!) They offer factory tours...I hear a road trip calling!!

The last pineapple I will showcase today is one of my favorites!!! Every year my band (go here) has a gift exchange. This year the lovely Xtine (banjo player extraordinaire) was my secret santa. She handmade this gorgeous pineapple needlepoint and then framed it. I usually keep it on my mantle, placed in a vintage plate holder (with seashells!).
She even initialed and dated it!
I hope this inspires you to search out the perfect pineapple decoration for your own home!
Love this! Years ago in Maine I noticed pineapples all over inns in Ogonquit. So, of course, I looked up the meaning and was so pleased. Love this cozy tradition!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I haven't been to Maine since I was very little...will have to add it to my list of places to check out!
